Breeding Announcement! Minka x Winston Bernedoodle Puppies Coming in October

Minka came into heat about ten days ago. We were a little unsure of the exact day, so we decided to have her progesterone tested on our estimated “day 10”. We’ve had trouble breeding Minka in the past and wanted to make sure to get a good litter from her this time around. We’d never done progesterone testing, but heard of a vet nearby that does it and figured it was worth trying. Brian took Minka in to have her blood drawn and they called this afternoon with the go-ahead! Her levels indicated ovulation so today is a peak day for breeding.

Because Minka is so tall, Brian and I both have to help with the breeding; one of the less glamorous parts of the job. I’m thankful that Winston is a proficient stud and got the job done.

Dog pregnancies last 63 days, so the due date for this litter is October 13th. That means the puppies will be 8 weeks old and ready to go at the beginning of December! Just in time for Christmas.

These will be F1 Bernedoodles which means they are 50% Poodle and 50% Bernese Mountain Dog.

The colors we expect are Merles, Tri-colors, and Phantoms. Minka and Winston always have amazing-looking puppies!
