Sun, Snow, and 3 Week old Puppies
The sun has been shining brightly the last two days and, though there is snow on the ground, there is warmth in the air. We took advantage of the beautiful day yesterday and brought Suki's litter outside for the first time in their young lives. The second I brought the basket full of puppies out, I could hear all their noses sniffing as they discovered new and exciting scents of the outdoors. They primarily stayed on the fuzzy coat I laid down on the sidewalk, but there is so much value in allowing them to feel, smell, and hear the outdoors at this young age.
Tuesdays are usually picture days, but I really didn’t want to spend more time in the basement studio under fake lighting when the sun was shining so brightly. The kids graciously stopped their snowman building to help me take some quick pictures while we were out there. I told them to hold the puppies facing forward, sideways, and back to capture all their fun colors. It wasn’t the same “studio perfect” photography session, but it was a good experience for the puppies and we at least captured a little of their looks.
If you’re questioning whether we should take such young puppies outside on a winter day - we feel it's very important for puppies to become accustomed to the outdoors. I go into more detail why we believe that in this blog post: https://joleyaire.com/news/puppies-can-go-outside
Though the blog post is old, my sentiments haven't changed and we have had years of happy customers, well adjusted puppies, and never a case of Parvo to prove that what we're doing works.
After the puppies came inside and had a good nap, I took the video below of them toddling around, playing, and being loud. I love how clumsy and clueless they are at this age!
TREE LITTER PUPPY PICKS
Cedar and Magnolia have been picked from Suki’s litter. We have one more pick to complete on Jan. 13th and after that we’ll know which puppies are available for reservations.
If you want a puppy from this litter, you are welcome to grab the fourth spot in line or wait until picks are completed to know which puppies are available.
