Introducing Suki’s First Litter
First, I’d like to introduce you to a new page on our website called “News” which is basically a blog for sharing updates and announcements in more detail than a social media post or email. If you’ve followed us for some time, we used to post regularly on Youtube, however, with the addition of another baby, homeschooling, and home renovations (along with having puppies), I just couldn’t keep up with capturing and editing videos. Perhaps, someday I’ll return to Youtube, but for now, I’ve always loved photography and writing and it seems like a less daunting task.
That being said, I’m very excited to introduce our latest litter of puppies: The Military Alphabet Litter by Suki and Winston!
This kaleidoscope of colorful pups came into the world on June 5th and have been doing absolutely amazingly! I had the feeling Suki would be a good mom, but was still a little nervous about her first time giving birth. After the first few puppies were born, we realized she is just like Ronnie (one of our past Goldendoodle moms): birthing as if it were effortless, keeping everything very clean, and caring for her babies excellently!
Now for a little backstory: when Suki came into heat, we didn’t do a good job of keeping her separate from Winston to be able to monitor and record every breeding. Thus, we only had an estimate for a due date which was June 10th. In our years of breeding we’ve learned to separate a mom dog at least 2 weeks before their due date to give her time to get comfortable in the whelping box and to catch any early labor signs.
It’s a good thing we did! Because on the Sunday morning of June 5th, Suki was panting heavily and sneaking behind our chairs and couches. We weren’t positive she was in labor, but just to be safe, Brain stayed home from church and I took the kids.
About halfway through the service, I got a text from Brian saying the first puppy arrived and it was a healthy male! Then, only about 15 minutes later, another text that she’d had another healthy male!
We always record the puppy’s birth times, so here it is:
I’ll be honest, I was not expecting parti coloring from Suki and Winston. Maybe I’m not as good at dog color genetics as I thought :)
The next few days since, we have kept a watchful eye on the new arrivals and are pleased that they have all done so well! It’s such a joy to have a litter come with no problems or surprises, especially after the last few litters. We’re reminded how much we enjoy doing this and that it’s definitely worth continuing.
These puppies are “Pending Puppy Picks” from those on the Waiting List. If you’re interested in one, please join the Waiting List as soon as possible to have a chance to pick!
We decided to name this litter after the Military Alphabet because it sounds so cool and we’d have more than enough names to choose from! The summer time always has us feeling extra patriotic as we celebrate Memorial day and the Fourth of July and we are extremely grateful for those who have served to keep our nation free. Therefore, we’d like to extend a 10% discount to veterans and active military members for this litter. Email me for more details if you’d like to take advantage of the discount.
We can’t wait to see these sweet babies grow!
