Honey is Blind. Sugar is Small
The last three months have been a blur. With 26 Bernese Mountain Dog puppies to raise, we have worked our tails off making sure they are happy, healthy, and ready to become excellent family pets. Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve begun saying goodbye to puppies who have found their forever homes. I can’t say I’m not somewhat relieved to have a few less puppies to be responsible for and it’s nice to see the workload and food bill decrease. I can finally take some time to attend to some neglected aspects of our business like updating our website and social media. So, here we are….
I’m sure you clicked onto this post because of the title and are anxiously scanning to see what it’s all about, so I’ll get right to it.
Honey is blind in one eye!
What a pitiful face!
This Bonnie x Beau daughter looks like the picture of health. She runs, plays, and acts exactly like all the other puppies which is why we never picked up on the fact that something was different about her until just last week at 10 weeks old. The only clue we had was that one of her eyes seemed to drift to the side. It was really only apparent in pictures and not as noticeable in real life. We almost wrote it off as just a lazy eye, but thought we should take her to the vet just in case. Dr. McKenna discovered that her optic nerve is reduced in that eye and she can’t see.
She looks like she’s giving me the side-eye!
I don’t expect this will affect her life much if at all as it hasn’t slowed her down thus far. However, since she isn’t “perfect”, we’ve decided to discount her price to $500 which is a steal for anyone wanting a Bernese Mountain Dog. We hope the right family comes along and is blessed by her for years to come.
It’s really only apparent when she looks straight ahead. Her left eye strays to the outside.
5/22/25 Update: Honey has found her home!
Sugar is still the runt
Moving on, I’d like to spotlight Sugar, the runt of Bonnie’s litter. If you haven’t been following along on Social Media, here’s a post about her from a few weeks ago:
While Sugar has grown since then, she is still at least half the size of her brothers and sisters! I’m so curious to see what she’ll end up growing to, but my guess is that she’ll top out around 50 lbs! I know breeders who cross Cavalier King Charles Spaniels with Berners and call it a Mini Bernese - Sugar might possibly be the only purebred Mini Bernese in the world!
As I said in the video, because of the extra attention and care she needed early on, she’s had a lot of training and should be an easy addition to any family.
While she did need some intervention and support in her first few weeks of life, we have weaned her off her special diet and are feeding her right along with the rest of the puppies and she’s doing great! I don’t expect she’ll need special care moving forward.
It’s a little hard for me to post this. Part of me wishes we could keep her, but it just wouldn’t make sense. I’m sure whoever ends up getting this precious girl will be some of the luckiest families we’ve worked with!

More Female Bernese Mountain Dog Puppies Available
We also have three other (normal) Bernese Mountain Dog puppies that are still looking for homes - they all happen to be females!
Genesis
Genesis favors her mom in that she has uniquely large phantom patches on her face. This amazing feature will make her turn heads wherever she goes. She’s one of the most laid back puppies and is content to watch the happenings around her.
Dear
Miss Dear has a beautiful wide blaze on her face and a lively spunk in her step! She even has a partial blue eye! This healthy, lovable girl is everything you’d want in a Berner.
Peep
The last available puppy from Minka’s litter, Peep will be ready to leave after this Friday. Like her siblings, Peep will be a big girl as both her parents are over 100 lbs! Once you’ve lived with a big dog, it’s hard to go back. Their disposition and temperament are hard to beat.
$500 Discount on all available puppies!
Due to the fact that these puppies are past 8 weeks old and we have Bernedoodle litters coming, we’ve decided to reduce their prices and take $500 off each! School is closing and summer is just starting, so it’s the perfect time to get a puppy! Help us find great homes for these beauties so their new families can get the most enjoyment out of them.
